There are few better reasons to raise a pint than knowing it's helping a good cause.
This September, we've been getting behind Hospice Run 2026 with a little help from Fonthill Brewing Co. and one of its beers, which we've given a new name for the occasion: Finish Line.
You'll find it at The George, where every pint sold up to and including the 20th of September 2026 will help raise money for Hospice in the Weald.
And given what the name represents, it feels like a pretty fitting beer for the occasion!
Why "Finish Line"?
Hospice Run is a big part of the Tunbridge Wells community. Now in its 20th year, the event brings people together to run, walk and raise vital funds for Hospice in the Weald.
There are 5K, 10K and half-marathon routes, as well as a family run, so you don't have to be a seasoned runner to take part.
The finish line is where all those miles, training sessions and early mornings pay off. It's also where you get to celebrate.
That's where we wanted to play our part.
“We know some of the fundraising team as customers, and we decided to team up to help promote this year’s run. We feel really honoured to have been asked to support such an important charity. So many of our community have been helped by the Hospice in the hardest of times. So I can really see why they are so passionate about what they do.
From the brewery to your pint
If you've been to The George before, you'll already know that Fonthill Brewing Co. is a huge part of our identity.
Based right here, in the Stables at The George, our team at the brewery in Tunbridge Wells hand-craft hyper local, super tasty beer, using local Kentish hops. Brewing beer and pouring at the bar sit side by side here; you can quite literally sit at The George and enjoy a pint that was brewed a few steps away.
For Hospice Run, one of Fonthill's existing beers has been given the Finish Line name and a special purpose.
It's a pretty simple idea: enjoy a pint at The George, and help raise money for a charity that does so much for people across our local community.

A local beer for a local cause
Hospice in the Weald provides specialist care and support to people living with terminal illness, as well as supporting their families and loved ones across Kent and East Sussex.
Hospice Run helps raise the funds needed to continue that work.
This year's event is particularly special, as Hospice Run celebrates its 20th anniversary. Thousands of people will take part across the different distances, with runners and walkers coming together to support the Hospice.
It's exactly the sort of community event we love being part of at The George, and Fonthill Collective as a whole.
What's in a pint of Finish Line?
“Long standing Fonthill fans might recognise Finish Line as an Pedal Steel - our tropical IPA which we brought back from the archive for this event. We wanted something refreshing so runners who come to the pub after can enjoy something really thirst quenching. There’s a free pint for people taking part on Sunday (while stocks last!)”
We'll leave the technical brewing details to the people who know beer best, but there is something rather satisfying about the idea of a beer brewed here at The George helping support a charity that means so much to the local community.
