If you're searching for a Sunday roast in Tunbridge Wells, you're in the right place. A proper roast — crisp potatoes, proper gravy, seasonal veg, and a pint of fresh beer — is still one of the best rituals of the week, and Tunbridge Wells does it well.
This guide covers what to expect at The George, how booking works, and how our roast fits into the wider local food scene. When you're ready to reserve a table, jump straight to our Sunday lunch menu or book via the button below.
Why Sunday roast still matters
Sunday lunch is more than a menu item. It's the slow halfway mark of the week: friends catching up, families around one table, dogs under chairs, and nobody rushing for a train.
At The George we keep it traditional without making it stuffy — Chef Seb's Sans Pantalon kitchen cooks with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the pub stays relaxed enough for a long afternoon.

What we serve
Every Sunday, Chef Seb runs a dedicated roast menu: a rotating selection of meats, vegetarian and vegan options, all the trimmings, and a kids' menu for smaller appetites. For the current dishes and prices, see our Sunday lunch menu.
Thursday to Saturday we serve the full pub food in Tunbridge Wells menu instead — so if you're free midweek, that is the kitchen to book.
When to come
- Day: Every Sunday

Large groups or celebrations that need a private space should look at venue hire in Tunbridge Wells rather than the main dining room. For bigger buffets, see our buffet menu.
Other Sunday roast options in Tunbridge Wells
We won't pretend we're the only roast in town. If The George is fully booked, or you want to explore, these are worth knowing about (always confirm opening times and menus yourselves):
- The White Bear — High Street Young's pub, strong for Sunday lunch
- The Guinea — Calverley Road, food-led with a rear garden
- Mount Edgcumbe — on the Common, distinctive setting
- The Compasses — historic town-centre option
- Country pubs such as The Rock Inn (Chiddingstone) and The Halfway House (Brenchley) if you're happy to travel

Pairing your roast with a pint
A Sunday roast and a fresh pint is a classic combination. At The George that often means Fonthill cask or keg from our brewery, or a guest ale. If you want to understand what you're drinking, our Beer & Brewing Culture Guide and Real Ale & Cask Beer Guide are good reading before you order.
Ready for Sunday?
Book your table, check the Sunday menu, and make a day of it — roast, pint, and maybe a wander through the pub garden afterwards.
